Article requests: can't get the full text article that you want? Fill in our request form and we'll get it for you.

Athens password: register for an NHS Open Athens account to access e-journals, e-books, healthcare databases, DynaMed and the BNF mobile app.

B

Be Aware: sign-up to receive weekly email updates with the latest news, articles and evidence in your field. We cover mental and physical health topics.

Book reviews: rate and review books on your online library account- we're always on the look out for reviews for our mental health fiction collection!

Borrowing: library members can borrow ten books for up to four weeks at a time. Reserve and renew books by phone, email or your online library account.

C

Catalogue: search for books and e-books on the catalogue.= by their title or author. Check out our new and most popular books and e-books while you're there.

Computer access: Trust PC's are available at both sites with internet access, printing and headphones for staff and service users.

Critical appraisal: book onto our critical appraisal training session. Learn new skills and tools to help you evaluate the quality of research.

D

Databases: search healthcare databases such as PsycInfo, CINAHL, Medline and Embase for journal articles and evidence.

Donations: unused books at home - why not donate them to our patient library? We're on the look-out for non-fiction, magazines, general interest and hobby books.

Dynamed Plus: provides clinical evidence summaries written by doctors and updated daily. Log in with your MPFT Open Athens.

E

E-Books: browse all available e-books or search for titles on the catalogue. Read e-books online or download them to your device.

E-Learning: Learn how to search the literature effectively with e-learning from Health Education England.

Enquiry service: we're here Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm to answer all of your queries and requests. You can visit us in person, telephone, email and Tweet us!

Easy Evidence Search: search for articles, books and e-books in one place with our Easy Evidence Search. Simply type keywords into the search bar and away you go!

F

Fees and charges: our services are free of charge for MPFT staff and we do not charge late fees for books. 

Fiction: borrow a book from our mental health fiction and biography collection. Search either 'FIC' or 'BIO' in our online catalogue.

H

Help: if you need help using any of our services, we have a range of guides available or contact us and we'll be happy to help. 

I

Inductions: we offer library inductions for individuals and groups. We can show you our resources and help you access the information you need.

J

Journals: browse our A-Z e-journals, or search for a specific journal via My Journals. Our site libraries hold some current print journals and older issues which can be used for reference purposes. 

L

Literature searches: library staff can do a search for key literature on a topic or to answer a research question. We offer a guided literature search for staff and students who are using the results for academic study.

Library cards: we do not issue library cards, so you don't need to worry about bringing it with you when you take out books!

M

Membership: as well as our library, all MPFT staff can join the health libraries at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital.

Mobile librarian: if you are unable to visit the library in person, we can arrange for one of our library staff to visit you or your team at your workplace.

N

North Staffordshire: based in North Staffordshire? Can't get to the library? We can post books out to you, deliver training at your workplace and provide all other services online. You can also join the health libraries at Royal Stoke University and County Hospital to use their facilities, attend training and borrow books.

O

Opening hours: both site libraries are staffed from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

Out of hours access: out of hours access can be arranged at both library sites for MPFT staff.  Please contact us for more details. 

P

PIN: your library welcome email will contain your Reader Number and PIN. These give you access to your online library account. If you have forgotten, or would like to change your PIN please contact us.

Printing and photocopying: MFD printers are available to use at both sites. We provide free photocopying of library information for Trust staff and there is a small charge for personal photocopying. 

Postal Loans: If you are unable to visit the library in person we can post books to your workplace.

Q

Quiet study: both sites offer areas of quiet study, including desks with power points.

Reading lists: we can help source items on your reading list from other libraries, as well as our own stock, through our inter-library loan service. 

Reading groups: if you are interested in leading or helping run a patient reading group within the acute or community sectors within the Trust, we are able to offer support and materials. 

Referencing: library staff are on hand to help you with any queries about how to reference your essays correctly. 

Renewals: You can renew each book up to four times, unless another user wants to borrow it.

Returning books: Return your books in person, via the internal mail or using the self-service machines at each site.

S

Service users and carers: library staff can help service users search for quality healthcare information and can offer advice on how to access trustworthy sources. See our Service Users & Carers page for more information.

Studying: we offer a range of study guides, materials and training to help you with your studies. 

Self-service machines: Register your Smartcard with a member of library staff to take books out when the library is closed. 

Skype for Business: contact the library with any queries via Skype for Business, simply search for 'Library Services' and chat to us!

Synthesised searchesliterature searches to inform guidelines or service development can also include summary of the key results. Simply tick the 'Sythesis' option when requesting your search.

T

Text messaging service: sign-up to receive text message reminders when your books are due back.

Training: get help with literature searching, using the internet more effectively, study skills and critical appraisal. We can arrange 1-1 and group sessions in the library or your workplace.

Wifi: guest wifi and corporate wifi is available at both sites, please ask library staff for the login details.
